My risers on my 1986 Mercruiser 260hp V8 need a coat of new paint. I don't want to take the manifold off the block (to heavy). I know that their are 4 bolts that hold it on and 4 clamps that hold the exhaust tubes on. I loosened the clamps and took off the two bolts and two nuts. I can't seem to get the exhaust tubes off the risers.

How do I remove the risers?

Ayuh,.... Knock 'em loose, 'n lift 'em off,....

A block of wood to loosen the riser from the manifold, 'n a hose pick to loosen the rubber coupler,....

The riser is lose from the manifold it's just the rubber coupling that is stuck

K I actually have the tool but never use it.
Normally I could just yank it off but their are two studs instead of bolts

I squirt in a little silicone while I'm using the pick, prying it off.

Get the attached stuff off the manifolds. Run a pick around the inside of the hose. Then, get your feet in there next to the motor and grab the manifold with both hands. Twist and wiggle til you can turn it back and forth. It takes some oomph.
