Hey, I have a 1987 Thundercraft with a 2.3 Litre 120 HP ford engine with the OMC Cobra. Engine has a cracked block, and I'm looking for options on repair or replacement. I found a 120 HP Chev engine online, will this work with my existing drive?

Howdy,

In order for any engine to work with your drive, you'll need all the (OMC-Cobra) marine accessories that connect to it. If there's no flywheel housing, coupler, flywheel, exhaust manifold, distributor, carb etc available......then no. It won't work.

why not go to a salvage yard and pull the motor from a 1987 Ford Ranger and swap the block?

I have this feeling the OP is in the UK, however if in the USA I would definitely pull a motor from an old Ranger.

If the OP is in the UK, the 2.3 sohc was used in some British applications, just need to figure out which models to go looking for.

I have a core 2.3 OMC / Ford motor. Let me know and I guess I could ship you a block...
