Hi,
I may need to ship a 1977 140HP motor from Colorado to somewhere in the lower 48.
I got this motor last year and never got around to finishing the project boat that I have been working on and now my job has moved to Florida so I need to sell the boat and motor. I have it up on E-bay and people keep asking will I just ship the motor? I got it delivered from a freight company so I know it can be done but just don’t know who to call regarding this. Does anyone who of a shipped company and ball park costs?
Thanks
Dave

It's not a matter of which company will do it, but which will do it right. Make sure it is crated very good if you plan on sending it with a common carrier like Estes or overnight or one of those guys. Fedex will also handle it but will be more expensive. You said you had it shipped before? You don't remember who handled it. Most places will do it, just make sure it is crated good!!!

I had the motor shipped to me at my work last year when I purchased it from a guy in Oregon. I just don’t remember who the carrier was.
As the motor alone as a dry weight of over 230lb without any crating I did not thing that FedEx would do it?. Does anyone have the numbers or better still web site for some carrier that I can look at and get a quote?. I was just going to strap it to a pallet for shipping.

Fedex will handle up to 500LBS airfreight and then they put it on a truck if it's heavier. Southwestern Motor transport (smt) handles that area(800)531-1071 as long as it is skidded. I work for a freight company, but unfortunately we don't handle that kind of freight because if it is not skidded properly it almost always gets damaged. Let me know if I can assist you in any other way. I will also look into some options for you. Call Fedex for a quote, 1-800 gofedex

Yellow trucking shipped my new outboard for me. Tractor trailered it right to the house.
Has shipping info to track on internet. They have a website.

I've always felt that Yellow was one of the more expensive carriers, but I'm sure Fedex will be to. Try a few a go with what works. I believe Estes Express handles that area also.
