Re: Need voltage for 2002 Evinrude 200 FICHT RAM red wire that bolts to PDP please.
Motor shuts down. Three red lights. Will not crank. No fuel pump. Tilt and trim switch works. This is a recently purchased boat. I went on two test rides and boat stalled. The old owner brought boat to marina for repair. Marina told him EMM was no good, would take three months to repair. I bought the boat and pulled it so that I can T/S myself. I checked cooling system for blockage, all passages clear. I replaced the t-stats even though they tested ok (tested in boiling water with thermometer). Replaced the water pump (looked ok and I had good pressure prior to replacement). I checked terminals/voltage from batteries to motor (checked ok). Main breaker checked ok. Began checking voltages at PDP and found the wire in question to have .536vdc with key on and battery voltage at 12.97vdc. Tested resistance/voltage on all relays in PDP, energized and static, checked ok. Checked all fuses on PDP for voltage/continuity, checked ok.The only thing I found that was odd, is that I have a voltage drop at fuses that supply all the injectors and oil injector with battery voltage then 40vdc when running. With the key on I have 11.69vdc at these fuses. I also have 11.69vdc at the purple wire that goes from the PDP to the main relay. I believe this is a seperate problem being caused by an incorrectly adjusted shift cable causing the shift interupt switch to partialy engage, providing a weak ground, resulting in the voltage drop. I still have to check voltage at the white with red tracer from the EMM to the bottom large 4 wire plug going into the PDP. I am suspect that this can also be the cause of the voltage drop if the EMM has an internal short. I'll verify, once it stops raining, by disconnecting the shift interupt switch and check voltage again. Sorry for the long post. I am trying to be thorough.
