After reading some replies to some of the technical questions I think this is probably the best place to (hopefully) get answers. (Clymer manual is pretty much useless).<br /><br />A buddy of mine has a 1987 Scarab I with a 1997 (?) Mark V Chevrolet 454.<br /><br />When he bought it, the engine pretty much came in a basket - lost a piston, connecting arm, cam, a few lifters, etc. Had the block and heads done, new piston and other necessary parts, then calls me to re-assemble the rest.<br /><br />Fortunately common sense is one of my stronger points - neither one of us took this thing apart. Funny how boat motors don't follow the same logic as ground transportation (ie: hoses everywhere, wiring going to ????, strange mounting places for things, etc.).<br /><br />We managed to figure just about everything out, except a couple of wiring "glitches" and one of the cooling hoses - or at least I think it's only one.<br /><br />For some reason, the fuel gage reads empty when it's half full. I could only find one wire coming from the sending unit ...... hopefully someone can email or fax me the wiring diagram or schematics.<br /><br />The hose that is in question appears to run from the outdrive forward under the left exhaust manifold. There it meets a cooler for either the power steering or the lower unit hydraulics (can't remeber which it is) near the motor mount. From there it continues up and around the front of the block to the water pump. The problem is that the hose is EXTREMELY stressed/stretched to make all the connections, runs across the very corner of the block (can't be a good thing), and the "cooler" doesn't mate up with a mount hole anywhere on the block or engine mount. I almost think the rear-most hose might be the wrong one.<br />(my buddy is the impatient type that wants to put this thing in the water as is, which I keep trying to tell him is STUPID unless he feels like rowing 20 miles upstream)<br /><br />By any silly slight chance does anyone have the ability to photograph (digitally) the hose routing and email me the pics ?<br /><br />Any help will be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks in advance.<br /><br />Fax: (704) 821-4190<br /><br />Respectfully,<br />Patrick
