Need year,hp,repair manual

Just was given a Evinrude Sportwin that has been garaged for several years.I know nothing about it please help.I would love to hear it run...well put it to use. Thanks

Hmmmmm.<br /><br />4156 is a 1936 2.5hp, ggg.<br /><br />That doesn't sound correct. Could you check that again?

4156-04099 is the serial number. Any ideas how to a repair manual?

Sorry. The first four digit number is usually the model number. My reference doesn't refer serial numbers, only model numbers.<br /><br />What is the model number?

You know, a 2.5hp '36 Evinrude is a Sportwin.<br /><br />I think JB has it. You can get a manual from kencook.com (check 'portfolio')<br /><br />I'll see if I can find a picture of one.<br /><br />EDIT: That wasn't much work - here's a '37:<br /> Click here

thank you paul and jb. With your help I was able to identify year and model of my motor and a repair manual.It runs like a charm to.I hope to get it on the water soon. Thanks
