Need year of johnson 7.5?? hp outboard

A friend gave me a 7.5 [I think] outboard and said that it ran when he stopped useing it some 15 years ago. I would like to find out what year it is and where I might find parts for it in the Southern New Jersey area. It has been painted camo on the out side but is like new under the cowling. It will most likely need a water pump, but I do need a fuel line,a two hose type. I do have the the fuel tank and hose ends. The model # is::: AD-10M... RJ, You can get an after market ser. manual at NAPA auto parts,They may also have some parts.<br /> Some branches may not have a clue find a main store if you have trouble.You can also get manuals at the tab at the top of the page.<br /> You will need to clean and check the whole fuel system from tank to carb.<br /> H Chalk and son Fishers Landing NY. should be a good source for parts.I know not in Jersey but should be excellent.They have a web site.<br /> ebay has parts and parts motors regularlly.

rdj--I just finished restoring a 1956 Johnson 7.5. Many of the parts are available at an OMC repair facility. I located the original paint and the decals on the internet. (Search Google). I got an original owner's manual and a Johnson Repair Manual thru Ken Cook, also on the internet. I found a Parts List on ebay. The only part I have not been able to find is an original throttle grip, but there may be lots of outboard collectors in your area who would have such parts. The Antique Outboard Motor Club (aomci.org) has lots of members in every state. My motor now purrs like a sewing machine; I've never heard an outboard as quiet and sweet running as the Johnson 7.5.

Hi 7.5runner I'm not really interested in restoring the motor to oringinal,just to get it to run reliably. Thanks for the info thou,it may come in handy if none of the local OMC dealers have or can't get the parts I need. As far as the motor being quiet and sweet running, thats what I also remember when my friend and I used it to go duck hunting together._____rdj jr.
