Need year of my motor

I have a 30 horse Johnson Motor with serial numbers: J30TELCDM E6196334 and would like to find out the year. <br /><br />I have a friend that has one similar and we want to find out if they are compatible or not.<br /><br />Thanks!!

Thanks Backlash!!<br /><br />After I did a little more digging, I found that this site had the answer too.<br /><br />One more question if you have the time, does the serial number tell you if it is a long shaft o a short shaft?? I know that mine is a long shaft, just wondering if it shows in the serial number??<br /><br />buck210

The information I can get from your model # is as follows:<br /> J - Johnson<br />30 - Horsepower<br />TE - Tiller Electric Start<br /> L - 20" transom<br />CD - 86 (year built)<br /> M - Model Run<br />Backlash
