First,
I have a V8 5.0 Gxi volvo engine on my new boat and when I ask the dealer as how should I *brake her in* there reply was that I don't have to...
They said that I can go WOT when ever I feel like it ?

Secondly,
I have a 19 foot bowrider (+-3000lbs) and I wonder if I should of opted for the V6 since her response is more lets say *nervous* compared to the V8 wich is more focused on torque ?

I will mostly be cruising on a big lake that has an average of 1 to 2-feet of chop with 4 (adult) passengers on board , maby some tubing but mainly cruising and Im not a fan of WOT.

I opted for the V8 mainly for the resale value and compared to the V6 it was only 2k more.

You should have gotten an owners/operators manual with your boat. It details the REAL breakin procedure.

Howdy!

I'm going through the 'break-in' thing with my new 4.3/Merc/MPI.

Manual says it's a '20-hour' period.

* Watch your oil-level during break-in. She'll burn some till the rings seat.

First 10-hours: Don't run below 1500/rpm or above 75% (approx. 3800/rpm).
(my mechanic recommended changing the oil after the first 10/hrs.)

Last 10-hours: May run at WOT for no more than 5/mins. at a time.
Change oil.

As Don says... get a manual.

Don't worry about your engine vs. a V-6. The performance will be nearly the same with either engine in your boat. You should be good for 50+/mph.

Happy Boating!

Here is the break-in procedure as printed in the LK Engine Components workshop manual:

I would take the V8 over the V6 all things being equal. I have the saqme size boat with a 5.0 Ford. I wouldn't want much less torque.

Amen to that. Ever heard anybody complain about having too much power in a boat? Me either. :p

I'm guessing the fuel economy of the V8 is not much different from the V6. You will really appreciate the torque of the V8 in sloppy water. With a little practice, I no longer get dirty looks when the water gets choppy. I've gotten much better at playing the throttle to cross them smoothly. Throttle down a bit until you get on top on the wake, then power over it.
