Need zincs?

Next month I plan on installing a set of SMART tabs. Being stainless I am concerned about electrolysis, although the zincs on my motor mount are close.
Last week at the local boat show I noticed that many boats had tabs, but only one had actually drilled a little hole in his tabs and installed a button zinc on the top side so the only thing on the water flow side was a little bolt head.
Does anybody think this is a good or bad idea?

if you are mooring the boat in a marina, yes it is a good idea, if trailering, no need.

Ditto, if it floats all summer, do it; if it is only in the water for a few days at a time, don't bother.

Re: Need zincs?

Normally, SS does not need Zinc's. Only connected to the hull. I have SS tabs on my big boat. But..(paronoid as I am)..I sprayed "Transducer Paint" on mine, and added both with round 3" Zincs. Boat sits saltwater slip 3 months.
Not a problem...they look better than I ever will..(or did):eek::D
