hi, im new here--but iv been looking around thes forums..and am impressed with the info thats being passed around..im hopin someone can help me..

i have a johnson model rds-20 '58 35 hp super seahorse..it was on a fiber glas runabout..wind storm blew tree on to boat and ruined it. so i want to put this motor on 16' lowe big john that i also have..in place of the '57 johnson 15 hp tiller control motor thats been on it..im at a loss as to what stuff to get and wher to start looking for the stuff to convert the rds-20, 35hp from remote control to local or tiller control. also wood be nice to know what years/models wood interchange if possible..thanks., art

if you are lucky enough to find the parts. it's probably going to be easier, faster, cheaper, to rig a console, and transfer the remote control.. or use ezyglide stick steering.

You see used tiller arms on e-bay all the time. They fit a whole bunch of years. You also need the gear and shaft that replaces the knob throttle that is probably on there now (unless somebody has removed it).

here are pics of my 1955 15 rude with stick steer. the side mount bracket is available at the iboats store, but i made mine. iboats, doesn't carry these so here's a link. you need the system and connection kit. this boat was the 3 set i have bought and use on different boats, and i love them. super product, easy to install. you also see may controls.
