Fellers. I need help trying to figure out exactly where this O ring goes. It is shown here http://www.lmmarine.net/pages/parts/viewbybrand/74/1424/30342/709/default.aspx as part # 23 ...on the lower part of the crankshaft. I know that #22 goes around the outside case of the bearing, but this smaller one was missing when I broke the motor down....so I have nothing to go by, and really can't tell by looking at a book here. I'm thinking that it may fit around the crankshaft right below/outside the bottom bearing......and the carbon seal is surrounding it. This O ring appears to be the same size as the crankshaft diameter.....about 1 inch.
Anyway, all my new bearings, seals, gaskets came in a few minutes ago, and I'd like to start re-assembly in the morning. If you know how to tell me in simple terms where this little dude goes, you would sure be helping an old simple country boy out.
BTW- this is a 1971 Evinrude 25 hp model 25103S ....and this is the crankshaft view ....would be part # 302540

Thanks,

O-ring #22 goes around the outside of the bearing, O-ring #23 goes inside the carbon seal #24.

FR ...you the man. It appears this old country boy is getting old eyes too. I looked where you said, and there it was inside my old carbon seal. Now if I can figure out where those missing rollers went to out of that top bearing. They're not inside the case, and the only other place they could go is up. I'm just shocked that this crank ain't tore all to heck.
FR ... BTW- those new bearings are the caged type....so I guess I'm missing the cage + some rollers out of that old one.

Oh yeah....one more question if you have time. I got the gel seal for the crankcase where no gasket is. Would you also use a little of this gel on any of the other gaskets.....reed plate, intake, etc. ?

Thanks again for your help,
