Just did some trading, and got a 1996 Godfrey Marine Aqua Patio 240PE. The boat has a 3.0 I/o engine, which seems to be fairly rare, I cannot find much info online about this boat, all of them I find seem to have outboard engines on them.

Anyway, I assume the engine is a 4 cyl. chevy engine. We are going to put some new plugs in it (has a slight miss sometimes) and check the fluids.

The reservoir on top of the engine that is labeled as "drive oil", which fluid would go in here? Gear oil like in the lower unit, or engine oil?

Howdy,

It would help if you include the engine serial number and make. The make and model of your new "Skow " is of no help since boat manufacturers don't make engines and drives.

You have either a Mercruiser 3.0L engine and Alpha Gen II drive or a Volvo Penta 3.0L engine and SX drive.

The 3.0L engine is probably one of the MOST common and popular I/O engines EVER used in a boat.

And they're still used. It's not an automotive engine however, it's VERY common in Forklifts, generators, compressors, welders, etc etc AND BOATS.

I am going to guess you have a Mercruiser engine and drive. (since you indicated a drive-lube monitor)

Drive oil is either Mercury HP drive lubricant or Mercury Premium Drive Lube
(Or equivalent)

According to Mercury, Don't mix the 2
If you don't know which one to add, change the drive oil in accordance with the Mercury Service manual instructions and use the oil you want. (most of the people here will suggest using the Mercury HP, Mobil 1 [gear lube] etc...... or any GOOD synthetic hypoid gear lubricant that meets Mercury's specs.

Rick
