I have a lot of old slides I would like to copy to a DVD/CD.
Does anyone have any experience in doing this.
I have a good photocopier that scans, and I used the adaptation on it to do slides, but it is terribly slow and I just had to give up.
I came across these thing.........so has anyone ever used one and if so, what were the results and time like.

Re: Negative Film & Mounted Slide Digital Converter Scanner

Phil I have an Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner and it is fantastic.

It will do slides, negatives (color and B&W), document scanning and just as simple as can be.

My brother who owned a photography business recommended it and he was right.

For a quality scanner that will do it all with great results .....it does it all. The scanner you are looking at is only about $30 cheaper but does not have the range of capabilities.

All of these images are from 20-30 year old films.

The speed of the scanning is directly related to the dpi...... when I do slides it will do 10 at a time.... puts them to a file which you can put anywhere DVD...CD

Yes, that is exactly what I have but I got mine much cheaper. I would check ebay or some of the equipment clearance houses.

I was an engineer (heavy equipment) and did 20 years active duty 73-93. No time with the 173rd but time in the 8th ID and 3d ID

Re: Negative Film & Mounted Slide Digital Converter Scanner

I now have a film and slide scanner that will batch scan,I get my negatives developed and request that the film be returned uncut.I start the scan after a brief setup for light and contrast etc and walk away.It will scan the whole roll unattended and if I see a particular shot that I want to play with after it is done I select the number on the roll and it will go right to it for editing.
It was not new but does a nice job for me,it is firewire and I will find the documentation for you if you are interested.
The scanner that Bob has is excellent because the software is cutting edge and will produce an excellent product.Digital ice can really clean up the older pics and negatives. If you can only have one scanner that is the one to have.Ron G

Thanks for the offer Ron, but I 'think' I will pass on it and pursue Bob's suggestion, but i do have questions for Bob though.

1. Have you done 'slides' Bob?
2. and if so, how long did it take for each one
3. and was the quality OK...I don't expect perfect...these slides are 40yrs old.
4. is it easy to use?

Cheers
Phillip
