I can talk about this because it was 30 years ago and I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations on indecent exposure has expired by now. When I was in High School we lived on the water in an exclusive Southwest Florida community. A couple of friends and I had unlimited use of our fathers speed boats. I guess you could call us spoiled rich kids. Anyway we used to get our kicks by covering up the registration numbers on the boat then skiing naked down the beach waving at the tourists. Come on, I know I'm not the only one who has done this. Let's hear your naked skiing stories.

Re: Nekid skiing

I've never done this, (seriously WAAAAY to painfull), but I've heard of people barefooting naked. Now, doing this by stepping off a slalom ski would really not be a big deal, unless you fell. Although stopping might be interesting!

Now the painful part. These crazy folks did tumbleturns! If you don't know what that is, I'll give a quick explaination. While skiing, go down onto your butt, hold your feet a couple inches off the water, and spin around in a 360. Remember that you are naked and water pressure forces orifices open!

I've also heard of people doing naked backwards deepwater starts. I don't care how good you are, you wind up riding on your "junk" for a few seconds while the boat accelerates. OUCH!

No thanks. I'll keep my barefoot suit on.

I guess no one else is gonna fess up, GatorMike.
Used to do it, back in the '70' at Bassy's lake. Of course we always wore our ski vests. :D

We'd ski down the lake, passing houseboats. The wives/ladies would be up on the bow, waving at us, and the husbands/guys would be at the back of the houseboats waving their fists at us. Oh, those were the days!

Never skied naked on purpose, but one time I fell, going donkey over applecarts, and lost my trunks. Never did find them! Made getting back in the boat full of women veerryy interesting...

Re: Nekid skiing

Went camping on a lake island with a younger brother and friends just this past year. I brought the boat and the ski....kawasaki 650SX STANDUP. Yep...you guessed it, there I was listening to the sound of these younger guys taking off, then falling off of the ski when all of a sudden I notice the one that could ride the ski pretty good standing up circling the lake naked as a jay bird. Put on quite a show seeing as how it's a pretty small lake!

OMC, if yer reading this...that would be Soft Maple Resevoir (which by the way was actually pretty good fishing this year!)

Know the place well johnson-liner but haven't been there in quite a few years. We used to camp up there on Ni-Mo property in fact I have some photos of me and a friend doing some nude bridge jumping either there or eafly(sp) flow. Is there any public access to soft maple any more? I only live a half hour or so away.

I beleive the NIMO site is still open on the west side of the main flow. Only seen it from the water, but there's a lot of activity over there...lifeguard stand, swim area, etc.
There are quite a few primitive camp sites, a couple on the big island (middle of the main flow), a couple on the large island on the northeast side and on the east end where the river flows in. Not sure where you'd park for these though? Maybe in the NIMO camp area or near the hydro station on the east side. We park at a friends camp that has a launch there.
I only fished for a few hours total the weekend we were up this year and caught 3 good sized pike, and a few nice sized bass. Never seemed to be any fish up there when I was younger.

We rented a rowboat at a local park in Buffalo, NY in the 60's. The three of us ran over the time limit so we ditched the boat. It moved back into the canal upside down an sank with a bit of it above water. 2 Hours later we are heading home and they had 2 divers looking for us. Really attracted people. Thought it was funny then. Pretty stupid now. Now they require a deposit and ID.

That account of naked 'tumbleturns' reminded me of that book "The Worst Case Survial Handbook" where they talk about jumping from high bridges and how you should keep your feet together and clench your sphincter to avoid a rather dangerous high-pressure enema. And that's with clothes on. It's all fun and games until someone dies of of a ruptured whatsit.

That happened to a relative-in-law of mine. He got his from a slide at a water park. He was overweight(but suited) and it ruptured him pretty good inside. He sued the park for quite a sum, as I understand it, and won.

Re: Nekid skiing

As a long-time skinny-dipper, I have water-skiid naked quite a few times times. Always wore a ski vest, however. Always deep water starts and never had a problem, but I always skiid under control with no mishaps. My son had to drive the boat, and wife was the spotter. My son, the wise guy, once pulled me right by the marina at McPhee Reservoir(several years before it burned) and stopped just outside the breakwater so I could get back in the boat before we went into the ramp to load out. Wife and son had a good chuckle over that, but no one else seemed to notice. Haven't water skiid since the son went to College, since the wife won't pull me.

Re: Nekid skiing

My wife goes along to provide the scenery(Her joke). As long as I don't make her do anything other than pull in the bumpers she's ok. She will occasionally steer while I'm trolling, but doesn't like "driving"(her word) the boat. She brings along the sunday paper and enjoys just relaxing on the water. I certainly can't complain. When she's happy, I'm happy.
