My nieghbor gave me an old 1.7hp neptune mighty mite to see if i could get it running for him. Wondering if anyone knows anything about this motor as far as fuel mixture, if i need to put a lead additive in the fuel and any other tips/tricks that i need to know.

Here's a link to Doug Penn's web site.
He has parts and info for the Neptune Mighty Mite.

You do not need any lead substitute. Just use an outboard 2 stroke oil with a TCW-3 rating.
I believe the mix is 16to1.
Good Luck with Your motor.

Re: Neptune mighty mite

People used to go out of their way and pay high prices for unleaded "Marine White" gasoline. Now it is available at any gas station as "Regular Unleaded". Lead is bad for outboards.

Wow! There is actually someone else who remembers Gulf "Marine white" gas! :)

Your neighbor's little Neptune is a simple little outboard. If it has been sitting for a long time you may need to dis-assemble & clean the carb. That is really a pretty simple job. $1.50 can of carb cleaner from WalMart and about 30 minutes is all it takes. If you do have to do this, the two jet screws (low & high speed) will have to come out & when you put them back in, about a turn and a half from (gently) closed is a good startig point to get the engine runing enough to properly adjust them.

Hi, I have a Neptune Mighty Mite 1.7 HP Outboard with a prop guard that the original buyer purchased with the outboard. Has anyone heard of this device and if so can you tell me a little about it? Thanks. George

You're posting in an 9 year old thread. The name is self explanatory.
