Hey need opinions or facts on netting saltwater fish on a boat had a disagreement with a guy I was fishing with on how to net a fish, I say net a fish that is still active head first or gaff the tail end my friend is of the opposite opinion??
net them head first, fish have a natural instink to run from anything behind them, I normaly pull the fish in with a net just below them if it falls off it will fall in the net, this is if it is hooked well, otherwise head first, gaffing for larger fish is under the fish just behind the gills, the gaff will penitrate better there as their skin is soft and not as many hard scales and pleanty of holding power,
