Did a search and saw taht a few people here use the Neutra-Salt system, I was hoping I could get some help.

I just bought a 2007 Rinker 282cc with the neutra salt system already installed but no manuals.

When I use Neutra Salt do I need to hook up to freshwater or just press and hold the button with the engine at idle.

The engine has to be running when you use the system. If it's slip kept use it before shut down. If it's trailer kept you will need to run the engine on muffs to use the system.

You want to hold the switch down for 45 seconds and turn your motor off while still holding the switch down. That way the solution is in your motor and doesn't get flushed out with new water.

Since I trailer my boat, I run the neutra salt for 45 seconds before I turn it off and put it on my trailer. I then bring it home and flush the motor and also run it 45 seconds before I finally turn the engine off. This way my motor is stored with the neutra-salt solution in it.

Re: Neutra-Salt

Thanks for all your help. I managed get a fax copy of the brochure from somone at rinker that told me about the whole holding the button down.

I just got my answer though from reading here and not from them. I wasn't sure if you needed run the neutra salt system as you were flushing it with freshwater.
The slip does have a freshwater hookup so time and again I could do a freshwater flush, I don't think that would inhibit the neutra salt in any way.

Fresh water is fine if ya have access to it. I run mine in the slip with the fresh water (I have a hook-up to my intake) for a bit, then use a Saltaway dispenser before shutting down. If all you have is Saltwater, the NS system will neutralize the saltwater that sits in the motor.

Re: Neutra-Salt

It doesn't hurt to run the neutra Salt system even when running on the hose. If there are any salt crystals stuck to the inside of the exhaust system because of the heat, the Neutra Salt will break down even more salt than the FW rinse will.

Here is the full brochure.
