Does anyone know if it is diffucult to bypass a neutral safety switch? or can I just pretty much take it out of the line? I think that may be the root of my problems getting the boat to turn over. Any info would be great! Thanks

I forgot to add, it is a 1986 Bayliner bowrider with a 2.3L volvo engine if that helps anyone.

Re: neutral safety switch

Testing the safety switch is just a matter of by-passing/jumpering it. The switch should be located in your forward/reverse control. One wire, in one side of the switch, out the other. Do not confuse it with the lanyard kill switch, the neutral safety switch is integrated into the control mechanism It breaks the circuit from the ing switch to the starter solenoid. I do not know the wire color….maybe one of the pros will chime in with that info. Good luck.
