This is a 9.9 1989 model electric start. WHen I pull start it , the motor will start in neutral. When I use the starter I have to pull foward on the gear lever on the side so that it's leaning more towards forward than nutral. How do I adjust this so I don't have to pull the lever forward? Thanks

Ok, If I'm understanding this, you have to put the gear lever in Forward to start the engine? When it starts, is it in Forward gear or Neutral? If it's in Neutral, then you need to adjust the lever position. Levers are usuaully held on by a bolt on a splined shaft. Find Neutral, pull the Lever off and reposition on the splined shaft.
