Im waiting shipment on twin leftover 1998 evinrude 175 ocean pros. The engines are still in there original crates and never been run.Should I just go ahead and treat them as if there 2002 engines and go through the regular break in procedure, or should I do something Im unaware of since theyve been sitting for so long ? thanks

yes that was me, i bought them on ebay I have been looking for a while,I found many motors localy and some out of state(s),and I found some good motors none less than 300 hours some even as high as 1000,the cheapest 175 evinrude pair (1999) I found was $10,700 with 456 hours, I figured what the heck another $ 550 and i get engines with zero hours. We shall see how it works out thanks

Dang it Sloopy! Quit being such a pest!!!

If you have something to say that will help, please post. Otherwise, read and behave.

Capt. Manny.

1998 Ficht V6 engines as built are potential bombs. Bombardier wont warranty them. Please see what upgrades you can get so that you don't end up swallowing injector parts like so many others I know.

Good luck. :)

Great deal Capt. Manny, I also bought a pair of 1996 175hp ocean pros last year. They had been in a storage unit for 5 years. I put them on my Grady White and they run perfect. I did change the impellers though. Just to make sure. Thats all I did to them, nothing else. They both fired right up on the first crank, could'nt belive it. I paid $12 G's for mine, you got a great deal. Good luck with them.
