I just purchased a new (leftover 2008) boat with a 3.0l Volvo Penta and I believe a SX-A outdrive.
Here's the question. At times there is a delay when shifting from neutral to either forward or reverse. This delay can be significant, up to 5 seconds or even longer. Other times it goes right into gear as soon as I move the lever in that direction. I have about 2 hours on the boat now and it does seem to be getting better, but still drives me crazy a bit crazy when it does act up. Is this normal (I doubt it), will it go away during the break in period, or do I need to get the boat back to the dealer to have this fixed?
I have never purchased a NEW boat before, and it seems funny that this is the first problem I have ever had with a volvo outdrive. (all of my other volvos have been the older AQ series.
