I'm looking into buying a new outboard and decided to go 4 stroke. I'm looking at the 50 and 60hp range that is under 250 pounds. My choices are the Johnson 50/60hp 4 strokes, Honda 50hp (75hp is too heavy), and the Mercury 50/60hp 4 strokes. I'm going to mount the outboard on a 15' Key West center console boat (rated for up to 75hp). I'm kind of leaning towards the Mercury because of the fuel injection. Which of these outboards would be best?

The Honda is less heavy than the others but you need more than 50HP. I love my Honda but go for 60HP. :)

Hi,

Also Yamaha F60 could be an outboard 4-stroke to consider, weight 244 lb (111 kg). It has carburators. Is very quiet, even at full rpm, what I have read in some tests.

/Bo

The Johnson/Suzuki DF60 is too heavy at 336lb. The DF50 meets your requirements at 245 and it is EFI.

In your situation I would favor the Merc EFI 60.

Good luck. :)

The Merc. 60 sounds good for your application. The EFI is a major plus.

Also, Merc. has a very widespread dealer network.
