I need some help
The only outborad Ive messed with was an old 6 hp. Chrysler
I dont know squat - wore out the Mercuy manual reading it.

The dealer warned me about over filling it with oil - it would not start.
They test ran it & ran like a top .I even started it a few times no problem.

I hung it on my old boat yesterday and was trying to raise the motor up and lock it. I raised it up to much and oil came out the carb.

Today the weather clear up and took it to the lake to run it. Before I left I added oil and looked right on the button.
I unloaded it in the lake and went through all the steps kill switch ,vent open pumped the bulb on the gas tank, primed it & choked it.
I like to pulled my arm off -tryed and tryed again. Checked the oil it was over full now so loaded it back up and drained some oil out. Left it just a tad below full mark which the dealer recomened. I will pull fine now but wont hit.

I assume I have oil on the plugs and in the carb.
What do I need to do just flood the crap out of it and let it sit then start?

I havent a clue dont want to screw it up:confused:
Thanks
Ron

How many times did you pull it with the choke on? The engine is probably hopelessly flooded. Remove the plugs and look at them. If they are all wet, pull the engine several times to blow out the the excess fuel. Be sure to pull the kill switch lanyard before you do this. Then don't forget to install it again. Install new plugs and try again. Are you using fresh fuel?

Its a new outborad and new fuel -
I tillted it up to much and oil came out of carb.
I added oil and over filled it a bit - it would not pull much untill I drained some oil out.
I dont really how many times I pulled it choked , I did not smell gas.
I thought I might of had air block in the fuel line from tank to motor, so I unhook it and removed the air from the line.

Can I just remove the plugs & clean and dry them??

Im worried about the oil in the carb

I think the new outborad has a saftey thing that keeps it from running when oil level is low or high.

I will get a barrel for water so I can run it at home.

Chances are you are turning/carrying the engine incorrectly which allows the oil to flow into the crankcase. The lower unit always has to be lower than the power head and you can only lay the engine down on one side. People often turn the engine the wrong way or get the lower unit higher as they put the engine on the boat. To remove the excess oil out of the engine:

Put the engine on the boat or in a test tank. Pull the plugs out. Pull off the safety lanyard. Pull the starter 20 times to blow out the excess oil. Put the plugs back in. Put back on the lanyard. The engine should start.

How you know that ?- you are right. I called the dealer told him it would not pull - Fluid Lock.
When he told me that it hit me the kid that loaded it layed it down handle side up.

Ive pulled the plugs many times & cleaned and pull with out plugs 100000 times.
I almost had it running its was pumpming water, it will hit 2-3 times then clean plugs and blow out cylinders & repeat.
Is there an air cleaner thinking maybe its oil soaked and keeps sucking oil??

Gettin closer

Repeat the process to clear it.

Put the engine on the boat or in a test tank. Pull the plugs out. Pull off the safety lanyard. Pull the starter 20 times to blow out the excess oil. Put the plugs back in. Put back on the lanyard. The engine should start.

It's possible that the carb itself is full of oil. You can remove the drain screw from the carb, pump the prime bulb twice(flushes the carb with gas), replace the screw and try again. If it still fails to start, take it back to the dealer as it is their fault that they loaded it incorrectly.

She's runnin like a new motor :D

Your right about the cab. I think it was full of oil.

This is how I got it running might help someone -
It would hit but not run
I left it choked and hit the primer 8-9 times on the motor
I pulled it and pumped the primer on the motor with choke on , kept pumping the primer to keep it running.
It took a good 5 min.
I stoped pumping the primer but left the choke on maybe another 5 min. before I could turn off the choke.

Smoked a little

Shes cracks off on a 1/4 pull now

Im gona get new plugs just in case
Thanks Ron
