Ahoy and help...
I just purchased a 19XX Evinrude Sportwin 9.5. brought home, put more in tank, cleaned plugs and she fired right up.
It seemed to work well at all throttle speeds.
Then it got where it would not idle down, and it appears that there are problems shifing into/out of reverse.
It feels like the motor mount on the Left (throttle lever side) is broken. The motor moves ALOT within the housing. The right side seems firm. I know on most vehicles that if the motor mount is broken, then you have alot of linkage issues. Is this motor supposed to move around in the housing? Is the right side the primary mounting side, so it should pivot somewhat to the left?
Also, I am a 6 on the 1-10 Wrench scale. Is the carb rebuild as easy as for a Johnson 6hp? I have opne of those and have it running great...after I get this 9.5 squared away, I have a light twin 4hp to play with..
I do have a bit of an identification issue. The plate on the transome mount is missing. Where else could I find the model number. It is a shallow model.
Thanks in advance for your help.
