Hey everybody, I've got a question...

I just purchased a new battery yesterday from Wal-mart, it is a Everstart deep cycle marine battery with 115 amp hrs, and 160 reserve capacity.(part # 27DC-6)

I went fishing today for about 4 hours, and didn't use the trolling motor very much, but the battery performed fine.

My question is this.... When I got home at about 11:30am, I put the battery on charge. The charger that I'm using is a Black and Decker fully automatic "smart" battery charger. This is the little $30 charger that Wal-Mart sells. I assumed that it would charge up quickly but by six pm this evening it still was charging, and had not registered that the battery was full. This is the same charger that I was using for my old battery, so I know that it works.

Is this normal? Should it take longer? Am I doing something wrong?

Please help me, I'm still new to boating and I don't want to mess up my new battery.

Thanks in advance for any help.
