That boat has come along way! You have done a great job! I'm currently serving in afghanistan and in 44 days i get my 2 week leave im buying my harley and working on my 1989 capri! I have owned it for 3 years ( I'm 21 ) and have been wanting to do this just didnt have the money... now I do!! The more pictures the better!!

I know epoxy is expensive but bayliner is made by poly resin so its not problem for us. Who can afford Epoxy be my guest im not going to do it.Im also glassing my seat sides in and out and also top of the seat before i place foam and vinyl.
If u got Hobby Lobby in your area they sell foam 2"x27"x76" for 27$ Much cheaper than jo ann or any other places. Vinyl i got from walmart 3.95 a yard. even if i have to replace seats cover every 2 years its worth a money.
I see people paying 30$ for yard, well if i have that kind a money i will be buying new boat not resto old one.
also i found in west marine they got on sale for 69$ dual digital media player with two speakers,No CD is mechless. thats how they call it.So no cd but u can use memory cards and input for Ipod or Phone. Im going for it.
and i check some of top coat paint in west marine cheapest one is like 25$ so i guess i will go for it.. Till next time.. Have safe Restoo

Man i was lucky. Foam was on sale 50% off so i manage to get all foam for 100$ plus vinyl 10 yards 39.95 and im doing seats now. It's to deam hot in florida 91 outside,so im chilling in house playing some black ops while sun goes down a bit.

I see a lot of people complain about epoxy being expensive but I bought poly resin locally at $40 a gallon and epoxy resin online for $84 for 1.5 gallons ($56 a gallon).

I found I could only use the poly to 'wet' raw wood and I used it on the floor with the chopped mat - but you cannot lay just poly resin as it's far too brittle - so I finished off the deck with 2 coats of epoxy resin - the finish is fantastic.

I also had some left so floated 2 layers of epoxy over a piece of stained plywood and created myself a really cool table for the boat

So I am now a great believer in using poly/mat for the build process and then a couple of layers of epoxy afterwards for the final finish and to stop any cracking of the poly from flexing.

Hey steve u right. When i walk in boat i can hear poly flexing. Not sure why but i still got water going under.Just move boat from outside to inside garage and when i lift a front of hull water start comming out from transom hole.I guess somwhere poly give up.
Will get one galon of epoxy and redo all floor and seats base at least with two coats. Just wondering can i do it now over poly or its going to be a problem.Also went to west marine and found beautifull yellow paint,that can be top or bottom or whole boat and at my cousing garage we found whole roll of very expencive yellow vinyl. this thing is like 200 pounds,He got no idea where he got that from but told me that i can have it..
I love it Whole bayliner yellow with black stripes and motor black with yellow stripes.

If you are applying epoxy over poly, sand the poly with 180 grit and then wash it with acetone. Then apply one thin layer of epoxy and let it harden for 12 hours. Then use 220 grit and roughen the surface and apply a thicker layer of epoxy and let it cure for 48 hours.

That's how I did mine and it ain't never gonna leak

plastic over transom under motor mount. bayliner capri 1700
Hey guys ,this time im trying to find proper name for piece of plastic that goes ovet transom and top. At motor mount place,my is all broke in pieces,also motor mount right side crack,me and my friend took motor out by hand,but still need to change one mount..or should i be looking for tilt n trim solution, could trim tilt work does it come with mounts,,thanks a lot...

Hey guys i got questions about gelcoat outside a boat.I sanded with 80 grit that with 100 than with 120. I now i got gelcoat only on it.No wax or any yellowing pieces left.i went all the way down till waterline here is a picture of it.
do i need to paint this now or i can just restore gelcoat color. I was going to paint everthing yellow all arount paint.But still thinking of it.
Also we did bow area and not really satisfy by results of it. here is picture of it.. please tell me what do i think of it..

Ok guys long time not on here. Here is a update. Uphlostery guy took all of the lounge parts to get them done. Now i need to paint boat from outside. Complete blue and top yellow. Can i Galon of blue be enough for whole boat. 17 ft.. and 2 quarts for the top.. any idea will be helpful
