I have an opportunity to purchase a new 2003 Larson 234 Deckboat (hold model from last year).

5.7 Liter Mercrusier with carb.

Larson trailer included.

Asking $27,499. They say this was their cost?

Hour meter is not standard on this model so I don't know have much it was demoed or possibly used otherwise?

NADA value on a used 2003 is:
Low Retail: $25,180
Average Retail: $31,080
Don't know if this includes trailer(did not say trailer included)

Larson Web site listed the MSRP for new 2004 base price around $37,000.

Is this a good boat? Any comments on Larson boats quality? Any issues to watch out for on models not sold in the prior year? Larson resale value? Any other advice?

Thanks in advance for helping me get over this ailment!

Hi. Even if it was a demo there can,t be more then a few hours on the engine. It,s not even run in yet and your getting a virtually new boat with a saving of $9.500 .For your peace of mind, get it serveyed by an expert.I don,t know anything about Larson boats but i,m sure some of the guys here could advise you about what,s good or bad with them ;) Good Luck.

Don't know about Larson. I am doing the same with a Glastron that has never been run. Dealer asked around NADA average and I traded my 1996 model a little above NADA average retail value. Will pick it up this week. Can't wait much longer. My dealer has been in business for 35 years so I feel it is legit. Boats are going like hotcakes this year so good luck. Sounds like a good buy.

Larson and Glastron are both owned by genmar and are built with with all glass construction. Check them out online and find out all about the VEC building process. Sounds like a great deal to me!!

Sounds like a good deal.

Make sure your WARRANTY STARTS THE DAY YOU TAKE POSSESION, not the day it was placed into demo service. This is particularely important on the engine/outdrive.

IMHO, most boat warranties are useless.

VEC is limited to Larson's bowriders. The Larson deckboats are conventional open mold construction.

Kelly Cook
