I am looking for help with my tilt on my OMC. It is a 1982 3.8 Liter. My motor works fine except when it is in the full down position. When at 3/4 down it will go back up. When I try to bring it up when it is all the way down I only hear a "click".

You're going to need a lot more information than that if you want help. Things like year, model of OMC. They were around for 30 years, and technology did change in that period.

I was having the exact same problem on my 3.8. I could usually get it to go by just bumping the switch. The cause is a dead spot on the armature, so I removed the tilt quadrant, bumped the tilt motor till it turned a few teeth of the gear, reinstalled the tilt quadrant.. voila.. 2 years later still working.
If that doesn't do it, remove and rebuild, or replace the tilt motor. When you see where it lives, you'll wanna try the repositioning thing first.

In addition, make sure you clean all electrical contacts on the solenoid, the plug and gound point.

Make sure that your tilt gear box is not full of water.

I found after reading my manual that R&R was rediculous. Spent alot of time trying to maneuver my arm past the gas tank under the engine to hold it up while twisting like a pretzel to start the screws.......then I removed the boot around the intermediate housing. It's right there. If you can't reach, remove the boot.

Try the basics, bad connections etc, almost guaranteed that the motor is either dying, or the clutch pack assembly is full of water. Whatever you do, don't by a used one. I did and I still raise my drive by removing the quadrant gear and lifting / lowering the unit by hhand and re-installing the quadrant. Can't see the logic in a 25 year old boat of spending $200. on a motor that will fill up with water again and again.....
