New boat owner

Hi All, I'm new to your forum and new to boating. I just got an 86 14' fish / ski for the family. Boat seems to be in pretty good condition for it's age. Kids are excited about going boating, I told them this adventure we learn together because I know less then nothing about boating. So any advise to get us started off in the right direction would be great.

Take a friend with you that knows what they are doing in till you fill confident enough to go just with the family!

To make sure you have the minimum federal- and state-required safety equipment, click on the VSC link in my signature to find an examiner to do a safety inspection on your boat. While you're at it, talk to the examiner about local boating safety courses.

Thank you to all for the info and I will follow all the recommendations, is there any maintance issues that I should check before launching? Anything that these 50hp Force motors need or issues with the fish / sky Baliners that I should know about ??
