We did it, this weekend we purchased a 24 ft.
Chaparral Signature series, with upgraded engine.
Decided against the Rinker, based on the local of the purchase (MD) and the wonderful free and discounted options we received with Chaparral.
Thanks for all your help... :D

Re: NEW BOAT OWNERS

Didn't buy a 28 footer, but I did buy a 1996 Rinker Captiva 232. Had 3 other boats before that one. I personally was impressed with the quality of the boat. Seemed to be well finished and well thought out. Had it for 3 yars. Used it from Myrtle Baech, SC to Pensacola , FL and never had a problem with hardware or systems. Sold it in 1999. Worst thing I could have done. Hope the info helps.

Re: NEW BOAT OWNERS

I couldn't find where I posted on the Rinkers before, so I will say it again.

Way back when, when I was looking for a new boat, and not so serious about my waterskiing, I too looked at the Rinkers because of their stylish looks and relatively affordable cost. When I inspected one closely at the Ft. Worth boat show, i noticed bubbles in the gelcoat.

You may think that shouldn't have been the determining factor for eliminating Rinker as a contender, but the way i saw it, they should have been displaying the best speciman at a boat show. If they can't display the most flawless boat available to the public, I have to wonder where they cut corners, or where else the boat will have problems down the road.

My 2 cents..

Sorry Dog,
IMHO for $45,000 you should be looking for a used boat. You'll get better quality for less.
Also try out the sleeping accomodations. Make sure everyone fits, esp in the second berth. - Joe

Re: NEW BOAT OWNERS

We have a 2000 Rinker 270 Fiesta Vee. Great boat. Tons of boat/extras for the money. Our experience has been that it is well built, not flashy but does everything we could ask as a family of 4 looking to cruise, entertain, stay on the boat for weekends etc. 5.7 bIII package has plenty of power. With a couple minor problems, got a call back from one of the Rinkers promptly. I definitely do not think of it as "cheap" but a good value. I'm only sorry that we have outgrown it, but am looking forward to the step up.

4roys may have the boat for you. I do not know the exact pricing on the Rinker but I can tell you that if you can get a 28' cruiser with some decent power for 45,500 you should jump all over it. That is a very inexpensive price. Most price point cruiser manufactures have boats 2 feet smaller for $10,000 more. Almost sounds too good to be true. Good luck
