my dad purchased a 2005 tracker 175 proteam with 60hp merc efi 4-stroke. we took it to canada last week for it's first splash. great little boat, well laid out for bass fishing in my opnion and very comfortable. not my thing, but a nice boat. we pushed through the 10 hr break-in period with no problems.

my dad never had trim on a boat before, so i had some educating to do. i think he's getting the hang of it, but i think he'll set it mid range and just forget it for the most part. besides, he doesn't really care about speed or performance, just wants to cruise with mom to the fishing grounds.

i took it out with my cousin for a shakedown. in flat water, i got 5800 rpms and 40 mph per the speedo. the nice thing about this setup is there is no porpoise at any speed or rpm. a very well balanced boat.

engine is quick and gets him out of the hole fast. it reacts to the throttle well at all rpms ranges. the only thing he needs to have corrected is the idle rpms- they are at 800, which i think is a little high. overall, great boat and engine combo. i'm glad, considering i spent countless evenings talking him into the 60 4-stroke over the 50 2-stroke.

I had the same boat, also with a 60. For the trim setting, you can trim up in bits until porpoising starts to set in. Then bump the trim down one bump from there and get off the throttle. Slowing down will allow the boat to settle back down. Resume speed after the porpoising has stopped. Neat deal is that these boats do not need the trim "in" for their hole shot. You can just leave the trim at that same setting for the rest of the day! It's the heavy "deep-V" designs that require constant fussing with trim.

Kelly Cook

My buddy has the 2004 version with a 60merc 2s and only gets 30mph. It's underpropped (5000 wot)and I don't dare tell him he need a diferent prop. Will the prop make that much diference? Chief ;)

Friend of mone has the tracker 175 with a Mariner 60. Gets 38-40 WOT. Not sure of the R's off the top of my head (somewhere near 6000)but 30mph at 5K sounds way slow Chief. Also don't knwo what prop he's running but it's the stock prop.
