Picked up a 2007 Bayliner 185 XT w/ the 4.3 mpi about two weeks ago. Got it for just under $11k. Has 95 hrs on it, spotless interior, couple very small chips in glass that I've fixed on the outside.

I know it's "just" a bayliner, but it's beautiful to me - I think they've come a long way.

Was a little worried - boats are flying off craigslist here in portland - had a few get sold out from under me when I tried to set up an appt to get them looked at - kindof crazy - idiot people who don't take boats to get inspected kept stealing my good deals, which made me into one of the idiot people who didn't get a boat inspected to get a good deal!

But I've had it out 3 times now, it runs great - no water in the oil or gear lube, steady temp and pressures. Only issue is the blower stopped working.

I'm pretty stoked!

Congrats! Nice looking boat.

The blower problem should be addressed immediately for obvious reasons, but it should be easy to track down and cheap to fix.

Hey an extended swim platform and MPI...that sounds like a deal to me. Who cares if it is a BL. About a week or so ago, the newer bowriders started pouring onto craigs list here. This is the perfect time to buy. They flood the market in the spring and if you don't time it right there is a long dry spell. I would love to be in the market at this moment. Deals on boats I thought I would never see are the norm now. Premium brand boats going for budget prices. It's even crazier in the large cruiser market.

I agree! Thats a bargain you got there!! The 4.3 MPI is like a $6000 upgrade from the 3 liter carb engine. That power with the wake tower and extended swim platform is a unbelieveable deal!!!

Only missing option was the fiberglass liner. I'd never have another boat without it but then again, for $11,000 I probably would have bought that boat now and sold it for a few grand profit later this spring.

I thought my new leftover 2008 Starcraft 1800 4.3 MPI was a great deal at $16,000. You smoked me.

Congrats on the boat. I love the lines a Bayliner has. The blower (worst case senerio) is a cheep easy fix. Don't worry about it being "just a Bayliner". Boating is like riding motorcycles, it doesn't matter WHAT you ride (old, new, big, small, expensive, or cheep) the thing is that you ARE riding.

on thing to watch out for, on a 4 year old boat, who says it only has 92 hours, could have been disconnected. especially in salt water the exhaust manifold are only good for 4-5 years.
even when not being run. salt eats the cast iron.

I believe the MPI engine computer logs hours. Any merc shop can read the data.

Great looking rig...Congrats! Get that blower fixed ASAP.

Test to see if the old blower is getting power.
The motors are cheap.
Some people forget and leave them running and they burn up.
Should be an easy fix.

With the MPI that little boat should really fly! Nice find...and enjoy.

Oh, and as the others stated...fix the blower...now. Unless you enjoy being a human fireworks display...then leave it alone. :D

Re: New boat...Startin' to think I got a steal

Thanks everyone!

Will defs get the blower fixed. I've owned 4 boats - from 1967 glastron 16 to a 1984 33' Cruisers, but this is by far the newest and nicest - so I want to bring it back to 100% and keep it that way!

I'm thinking it also needs a bimini top and a prop w/out dings in it.

Any ideas on bimini tops - where to get them from?

Also, was thinking I might go to a 4-blade prop or a lower pitch - it takes a little longer than I'd like getting up on plane w/ 4-5 people in it.

Oh, and it does fly - 55mph on my gps! Not used to that kind of speed on the water - so won't be doing that very much.
