Ok, do I took the 88 ski supreme in for winter service. Bad news, water in oil filter (most likely from manifolds that had been jb welded by previous owner) also they couldnt get the drain plugs for the engine out without drilling them. Wanted $1200 to complete this job. I told them to stop and I would come get the boat. Well went to get the boat, paid the $379.00 for work they did get done and was about to leave. They then asked me what i planned to do with the boat since I didnt let them complete the work. Told them I was gonna sell it and yes would disclose the issues they found. The mechanic then asked me if I was still interested in another boat and I said well yeah. He then took me over to look at a few and when I asked the price he went to find out. Now this guy did seem like just a legit mechanic. Of course a salesmen followed him back out when he came to tell me the price.

Here is where I am now, Boat they showed me is an 08, Glastron GT 185 with the 4.3 L volvo engine. Boat is in excellent shape and has about 40 on the clock. They offered me a pretty good trade in on my boat and set up the financing for the new one.

Wondering if I should jump???? The newer boat is beautifull and well taken care of. The monthly payments are well within my range. (sale price is $17,000) Would be a great boat for the family. Just havent shopped for this new of a boat and have no idea what I might be getting into.

Thanks for all replies,
Richard

Re: new boat?

Previous boat was an '02 Glastron GX205 (later years the GX designation changed to GT). It was a great family boat and we enjoyed it over the 9 seasons we had it. It was still in great condition when we traded - wanted a different style boat (more fishing oriented) now that kids are all but grown.

Re: new boat?

Much could be considered,
but if you got it,
and you want it,
then go for it,
and get it.

You won't regret it.

Enjoy your boat and boating!

:D
