I had posted about 10 days ago - My husband and I are looking for a used boat to use for fishing/towing a tube and generally puttering around the lake. We have water access via a narrow (12') wide and steep ramp. The association does not allow pontoon boats. Everyone was very helpful with suggestions. So.... any thoughts on this boat?

Does the price seem reasonable? We have only a Honda Odyssey and a Ford Escape to tow it, but only for a short (1/4 mile) distance to the ramp. I am more concerned about getting it in and out of the water. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Your link goes to a page full of boats.
Any one in particular?

PS - I would join the association and change the rules!
All it takes is to make a motion at a meeting and have the deck stacked.

Oops... sorry. I thought the link would go to the particular boat. It's the 1990 Four Winns 190 Freedom - sale price $4950. White with red accents. :D

for a 19 year old hull and drive train, plus being OMC, extremely overpriced. even though it looks cared for.

Re: New boater looking for used boat

I just looked at that boat. If i was you i would really look at the wood that is in the boat. If there is something that is rotten in there then you will be posting in the restoration forum more than you will be boating. It seems like a good price as long as everything is sound. But like JB said there are better drives out there and if you shop around i bet you will get a better deal on something that still has parts available for. Honestly it looks like a nice boat to me. Just be VERRY VERRY careful when you buy a used boat that is more than a few years old. You dont want to be paying for someones problems. Its a nice boat in the pics, just be careful. If you are new to the boating world it might not be a bad idea to pay someone like 100 beans to look at it for you. If you pay someone 100 bucks to look at it and he says its junk at least you did not waste $4,900 on something that is not safe. Good luck! Used boat buying is really hit and miss. This is just my opinion, someone might say otherwise.
