Simply stunning. How about a bigger pic and a little info on the boat in your avatar?

Re: New build crackerbox

I vaguely remembered your previous Malahini build, but lost track of it over time...Then I saw this thread and remembered it...so I start to go through it and get really confused because I recalled the Malahini as an outboard...:noidea:

OK, start over...I look up your original thread and, yes...outboard, Malahini...Splashed? Yes...Finally saw that on the videos you posted here...

Alright then, now it is all beginning to make sense...you finished the Malahini and seemingly enjoyed the heck out of it...
Then you started the Crackerbox...

WOW!!!
I don't even know where to begin to show the respect and admiration I have for your incredible craftsmanship and determination...:hail:
I am in AWE!
I have spent the last hour or so going through all of your threads, pictures and posted videos...
First of all, Thank you for sharing these wonderful builds...they are an amazing inspiration.
Secondly, I would like to come aboard and see this gorgeous crackerbox come to life...

And finally, I do have one question...I never did read what became of the Malahini? What has become of it?
Hopefully passed on to an appreciative new owner, unless of course you have it stashed somewhere...;)

Best Regards,
Gus:D

Man oh Man that Malahini flat out flies:plane: and seems to handle sweetly...and that's just with a 40 horse Merc?...WOW!
I can imagine the Crackerbox is gonna be like a Super sports car...similar to a Lamborghini or a Ferrari...:jaw::becky:

Thanks SN, I appreciate the info. I'll be giving it a shot after I'm done with my current project. Good luck!

I love it. I looked at the 14' Cat on Glen-L, about a hundred times. Wood rules.

Well thats the planking done except for the engine cover, I bookedmatched the kingplank so the grain will go around the fuel filler cap, I did the same on the bow for the cleat.
I also bought some BLACK caulking :D and some stain to put on the sides and Kingplank  I only get one shot at the staining and it's hard to know what it will look like till the varnish goes on, I did do some test pieces but some of the planks are coming out in different shades so only time will tell.

Re: New build crackerbox

Aa I may have said before I was not happy with the finish on the hull as there were some patches where dampness got into the epoxy overnight that looked a bit cloudy, the fiberglass was easy enough to remove with a heat gun but the resin that was left behind was a real pain to sand down but 50 sanding discs later it's done :) I hope I don't have to do this again so next time I'm going to go with 207 west system special hardener.

I'm also going to give peel ply a go on the transom first this will protect it from any dirt or dampness in the air and when removed should leave a smooth finish ready for varnish, if it works out I will do the whole boat with it if not I'll take it off and sand it back down
