Check out this ride
1916 REO Touring Car
Helped my childhood friend drag his new toy home today
Added a 5' door to his shop so we could roll her in and keep her warm for the winter
Amazed at the original condition and the engineering that went into this machine back during WWI
Looking forward to digging into the engine tomorrow!:)

O

I'M not a REO expert, so I looked it up.
REO and Diamond trucks didn't merge till 1967, but it was the same REO company.
We are going back next week to pick up a 1915 REO pickup that has a wood body and needs alot of restoration.
Finished a 35 Packard recently and we are trying something new. Wanted a steam car but settled on these since the price was right. I'm the muscle and fabricator. My buddy is the knowledgeable one with a real passion for ancient vehicles.

Way cool!
The Diamond Reo truck plant is still standing and operating (just barely) as an "industrial flea market" I drive by it often.
In my youth (late sixties) I had my first rock group gig for the "REO girls group" at their office in the factory. What a hoot!

Thanks guys, looking forward to getting the motor torn down. It has external valves, springs, rocker and push rods. Even has primer cups on top of each cyl with a valve for introducing fuel before cranking. I'll try to post some pics.

Bruce
If you come across any REO paraphanalia, please let me know. If it's not too much trouble, could you click off a few pics of the old plant. Whenever we do a car project, I create a folder of all the info (pics, ads, tech specs, parts lists, etc...) I can gather on the vehicle/maker and pass it on to the next owner.
Thanks alot!

Sweet ride, a true classic piece of America manufacturing history there:D

I can get some photos for you, I live just north of Lansing where the REO factories are still standing as Bruce mentioned. I will try to get some posted here for ya.:)

Your friend might like to check out this link. I can get some info and photos from the museum too if you'd like.

I do have a '69 Rocket 350 motor in the shed from my cutlass conv that my brother ultimately customized with a telephone pole and splitrail fence!
Someday I'll find a home for that.
