New copper water pipes, bad flux taste ! How to remove? ? ?

Put some new copper water pipes in this week.<br />Now I have a bad odor and taste in the water. I smell just like the flux from the soldering. <br /><br />How do I get rid of the bad taste?<br /><br />Is there something I can put in there to flush it out with.<br /><br />I have the best tasting water around, and now it is ruined.<br /> <br />What to do? ?

Bleach,.........<br /><br />I Don't know the concentration,.....That's what's done to New Installations at the jobsites I've been around..........

I'll give it a try.<br />Gotta change the filter anyway so I'll just pout it in the filter canister before I screw it back on.<br /><br />I suppose I'l taste bleach for 3 days, but it will be worth it if it works.<br /><br />thanks Bondo.

mine had that really bad when i moved in it went away in about a week

Could possibly be the type of solder that was used.I believe there is a specific type that is recommended for drinking water application.

I used the lead-free drinking water solder, but probably used way too much flux (and solder too). As you heat it, the flux wicks thru the joint and ends up inside the pipe.<br /><br />Well, thanks to the multiple shut-off valves I installed, I was able to add bleach to the cold water line only, down stream from the water heater. So I still have good water in half the house. The bleach is only in the new section of the cold water pipe. If this works, I will do the hot water line.
