I'm un-clear on this NEW fuel line.
New to me 20' Proline CC, 1998 115 Johnson, center console with an under deck 36 gallon tank, the PO was using an external marine tank under the console claiming the 36gallon under deck tank was contaminated.
First, I removed the fuel line from the boat (a real Mickey Mouse setup)
going to a 12 gallon external tank under the console..about a foot of hose connected to the tank connector has 'slight' exposure to the sun (it's under the console, but no door) the end was soft, seemed like it was 'swollen'.
Printed on the hose, USCG SAE J1527 Type A1 5/16" 1992 Maylasia.
OK, it's 18 years old and not worth cutting off the bad section and re-using as fuel line, but good for cutting up to protect wires from chaffing, use pieces as snood slides etc.
I read on this forum to use TYPE A1 marine hose.

Now the question:
Does this NEW hose break down over time?
Plan on doing this again in "X" years?
Or, is the NEW J1527 Type A1 hose better?
Thanks
PS
Even though it ran good on the water hose, I also plan to re-build the carbs/fuel pump, and replace all engine hoses too.
I already emptied the in-board tank...7+ gallons of water, 15+ gallons of dark fuel.
