I just bought new twin 225 e-tec's and took delivery of them in july.Sometime in september I started noticing the engines were getting harder and harder to start when first starting out. Its now October and they are very hard to start, both engines doing the same thing.I contacted my dealer
and was told that its probably that the spark plug gaps were open to much.I then discovered that the plugs have to be indexed when puting them in. My question is, I was supposed to go three years without any service on the motors its just three months do i have a legitamate gripe with the dealer, the factory, both of them or none at all.

For what you pay for these motors, you should not have trouble starting them when the weather starts getting cool. If you can't get any satisfaction from the dealer, get in touch with Bombardier. There is something out of adjustment somewhere and may be an easy fix.

I think you have a gripe and a lot more, not with your dealer,as he sold you these motors based on what BRP told him.Ask to have a BMC Factory Rep come look at the setup.

Back when it was OMC,Skip Wolf would be talking to you on the phone or shaking your hand Monday.

DHP

Ask the dealer to bring his PDA or Laptop and read the codes for the engine off the diagnostic port. Are you using the XD100 oil?

If your plug gaps are worn already, most likely the dealer did not check the motors out completely when they were set up before delivery. If the motor is not running up to full temperature, the motor will stay in "warm up" mode and use more fuel and longer spark duration.

Ask you dealer to remove the thermostats and check them for proper operation, check the thermostat seals for any dislodging, and to check the pressure relief valve for internal leakage which also makes the motor run too cool.

If your dealer questions this, ask him or her to call the dealer hot line and talk to a factory tech about it. You can also call the customer service number at 847-689-7090 and talk to a tech.
