It started out ugly, BlkY2K, but there is a point:

Children need to know about slavery and personal abuse but this is a bad way to do it.

Shielding them from it is also a bad idea,

The teacher is fully to blame for even passing out that trash.

The absolute first failure is square in the education system's lap. A teacher should have not distributed that AND it should have been brought to the attention of the administration of it even being available.

True story - When my son started in a new school (due to my military transfer) he brought home some of his 5th grade books which were OLD....... so old that coal was the primary fuel source for energy! I brought that information to the attention of the school where they cried "poverty" and could not afford updated text books. The situation was remedied that school year.

I guess I am not as surprised by the news report .......... but I am embarrassed by the teacher distributing it.
