Subject: Hello all

How are you all doing?
I know I have been here in the desert for two weeks and haven't written or written much. It has been really busy.

For those that I haven't written to yet

I traveled for 3.5 days straight (either on an airplane or in a terminal waiting) with one overnight with a bed to sleep on. I got here and what did I do? I dropped my bags in the tent, ate, hopped into the truck and went to work.

Now for all

My work schedule flows around our aircraft that are here. I won't be getting too many days off, or should I say taking too many days off. But some good things are happening, our fleet of aircraft was down and non-flyable. We are now back up and going. I am working with a good group of people, some of which need to learn how the real Air Force works. Being a new aircraft, and some of them this is all they have ever worked, the program was still in the test stages. A lot of things that happened were things that should not have been allowed. They think I am too hard on them, because I came in and started enforcing the rules. Oh well, someone has to be the bad guy. As long as I turn them out of here better prepared, I have done my job.

It really isn't that bad here. It is a bit warm. Been getting into the 90's during the day and down to the 60's at night. We have had rain the past two days, but it was during the day while I was sleeping so that wasn't bad.

If any of you don't know what kind of planes I work now, here is a link. http://www.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?fsID=175

It is kind of a neat airplane. Being a new program though, there are lots of bugs to work out still. But we are getting there.

As far as any care packages, notes from home, maybe some cookies for my guys. That's about all.

Unless someone wants to send over a couple of good pool cues……:)
Just kidding. The ones here are in pretty bad shape, but they are working on replacements.
They take pretty good care of us. The food is actually pretty good and a great variety. On Sundays we have Mongolian BBQ and on Fridays we have Surf and Turf, mass cooked T-Bone and Lobster Tail.

I have been trying to type up this email in between work related issues.
It has taken me 4 hours to type this up. LOL

Now I have to go. Got more work to do.

Charles "Chappy" Chapman

I forgot to include my address!!

MSgt Charles Chapman
380 EAMXS/12 AMU
APO AE 09853

Glad to hear you're safe and well AK, and that is one impressive piece of kit you're looking after. Remember: the only guys that grouch about a butt-kicking are the ones that usually need it most: someone has to do it!

Keep your head down and stay safe, you're doing a great job for all of us!

Great to hear you’ve got decent conditions and great personal there. Enjoy hearing first hand info from those involved. As for the cue ya didn't specify a weight, got a couple of Cuetecs if you’re interested. Best of luck, and be safe over there.

Reading his postings prior to his departure, I tend to think he was not able to fully disclose where he was going.

Thanks roscoe and especially AK.

I agree Kagee, he was not letting on. Called it the big sandbox which sounded more mid-east than Africa. No wait, that's it, he's in the Gobi desert. See how easy it is to crack this stuff . . . :D

Thanks for all the kind words.

LT,
The weight doesn't matter, the cues we have here look more like horseshoes. :) Any cues sent would remain here and be donated.

All,
As far as where I am at, no I cannot disclose. SBN has the right idea though.

3.5 months to go!!!

AK Chappy

LT,
They can be sent to the address above.
I can only post on one of four computers here in the activity center so if I don't reply in a timely manner that is why.

If anyone wants to send emails, send them to

charles.chapman (AT) adab.centaf.af.mil

That is my work email. I only get to spend about 15 minutes on the morale computer (which takes about 7 minutes to bring up iboats.com) (I like the looks of the new interface, but it really sucks on dial-up) and 13 hours+ on my work email. LOL

Cookies/goodies for the people working for me would be appreciated.
We tend to miss the home cooked type of stuff.
We have access to a ton of movies and music, so that is not a big deal.
If I get requests for anything else I will let you all know.
Thanks again.

AK Chappy
