Re: New Engine Block Break-In

Absolutely not! When it is sitting in our storage spot (outside), the boat has two covers on it........the deck cover and a full cover that covers the vents on both sides and even goes lower than that. We leave the transom plug out and raise the hull up, but not all the way up. I've gone over to the boat the day after a downpour of rain, raised the hull all the way up and not a single drop of water has come out of the transom hole......all the water had drained out already.

Ahhhhh #3 was where I was headed next. So it is possible all of this water was already in the boat prior to launch?

Re: New Engine Block Break-In

It is possible this is a boat issue and not an engine/drive issue. I would:

1) Launch, do not start. look for water rising. If water is entering search for source, this could be bellows.

2) If no water is building, I would idle around for a while, trim up some, trim down some. If water is entering search for source, this could be bellows.

3) If no water building during #2, I would operate on plane and perform multiple maneuvers.

If water only builds while underway at higher speeds I would suspect the hull/deck joint under the rubrail.

Does your dash speedo work? This is a possible oddball one that another member found recently.
