Do a search on Binary Explosives. I don't know if that small amount would really do that much damage but what about a suitcase full?

The out and outs of the explosive I have no clue. But the video I definitely feel is a fraud. If the binary vaporized the melon then why are there no scorch marks on the post and the tape is still somewhat intact?

Yes binary explosives are powerful but this video was a fraud ..... my opinion.

I have manufactured MANY binary explosives some with simple mixing and others that require a great deal of time in a lab.

A drop of "nitro" that size or even a piece of C-4 that size would NOT vaporize a melon of that size and as a matter of fact even an apple would survive.

As far as "scorch" marks go.... real high explosives really do not leave any. The explosion is usally a bright orange flash and no smoke to speak of. The video displayed too much smoke.

Now as far as a neat explosive goes..... in Britian the entry teams have a plastic explosive that is in a caulking gun. They run a bead around a door jam, insert a blasting cap .... and it normally opens the door !!

Bob, any reason why they don't leave any scorching? To short of a flash time or something?

Obviously I have no expertise in this, just observations and curiosity.

I thought the precise measuring was good.After getting the air (NOT) out of the syringe,just let some ooze out.That's precise.Don't forget your sticky tape.Put it next to your non-sticky tape.

It's just a poor,slanted film clip.But I am not surprised these explosives exist.

I guess the best explanation is that a high explosive does not "burn" ....it detonates. Black Powder is considered a low (very low) explosive due to the fact it does not detonate it deflagrates (actually burns at a high rate).

There is a significant end result between a subtance that deflagrates (which is what happens in fireworks and inside a rifle cartridge) and a true detonation. Even "smokeless" powders have the same reaction of high heat and flame.

I love to listen to the people who have heard about "big" firecrackers that are "equal to a quarter stick of dynomite or equal to a 10th stick of dynomite" Those comparisons are no where near the truth. My favorite demonstation is to detonate a single ounce of high explosive. After the detonation the entire view of explosive properties is evident. It creates a new respect for waht equals what.

A prime example is the bombing done by Mcveigh. Had that entire truck been mixed properly ...... The entire building would have been vaporized ...... not just half.
