I decided to replace a soft section of the floor in my '72 Glastron V 166, (Im probably the third owner) so before beginning the project i started reading Threads here on iboats to help educate myself and get some insight on what to expect...WELL...I read some Threads describing the "can of worms" opened up once the project began...Mine started with the removal of the old carpet...I knew something was going on under there because when i walked back and forth on the floor i could here this "crunching" under my feet...WELL, what i discovered was this: At some point in time, some idiot decided to put a glaze of poly-resin on the floor to strengthen it...which was never put down correctly...that was the "crunching" noise under my feet...half of that came up stuck to the back of the carpet...the rest i had to chip up...THE BAD PART IS, this idiot also used carpet glue to fasten the carpet...AND I mean a WHOLE LOT of glue...gobs of it...over the entire floor, its been a painstaking job trying to get this glue removed, but im getting there (thanks to some Threads here on iboats)...I knew i was in for something, the Threads i read prepared me for what i'd probably find...The one good thing about all of this: the stringers and everything else under the floor looks great...makes cleaning all that glue up not so bad...!
