This may sound stupid, but has anyone ever tried to use household lino or hardwood for boat flooring. I do not want to replace this floor ever again and the wet carpet will always cause problems.
Most bigger boats have hard wood deck why can it not be done on smaller boats. I have a 17 foot open bow.

Thanks

Re: New Flooring

I haven't used house flooring however I did think of that new kind of boards out there that are made of some sort of plastic. Anyway, I decided to go with 1/2" treated plywood with marine grade carpet on top of it.
I didnt go with that plastic because of the weight. I would have put 150 pounds of that "plastic wood" (dont know the name). The treated plywood only weighed maybe 20 pounds.

That treated plywood should last you 10-20 years before you have to replace it again.

How much does the house flooring weigh is the question.

Good point I never considered the weight of hard wood flooring. Marine plywood and carpet it will be.

Thanks

Marineply with some 12oz cloth with epoxy. Then use some Quickfair to fill the weave and get the deck fair. Paint with marine paint with nonskid additive(or use KiwiGrip anti-slip marine deck coating....its great). You would never have to worry about carpet ruining your deck again.
