New forum member, just bought a Cavalier

Hi Everyone. My significant other just bought a Doral Cavalier. The previous owner ( a marine mechanic) is going to service the lower unit tomorrow and put the boat in the water for us. We are very excited. I will no doubt be picking some brains here once we get to know it a bit. First off, the owner removed the bolt-on pulpit/anchor board and as I look at different cavaliers online I noticed the '85 thru '87 had the bolt on, and newer models were molded into the hull. Then I saw one advertised as an '89 which had a bolt-on pulpit. I'm now confused.
Can anyone clarify if it was changed based on the year, as I thought, or was it some sort of hull configuration option? Thanks.

Congratulations and welcome aboard. You will find all the help you need on this forum. There are a lot of true experts out here.
So whereabouts are you from ?? we are from Belle River. Just sold my Doral but they are a great boat.

We used to spend a couple of weeks each summer at Ahmic Lake. Beautiful area.
Always stopped on the way in Parry sound to load up on groceries, liquor and beer store. (Reverse the order they are written in for the importance factor )

I like Ahmic Harbour. My brother and I ride up there on the bikes almost every week for wings and a few games of pool at the Ahmic Harbour Hotel. Great food there.

Hi, my last boat was an '89 Cavalier, your brothers appears to be an '88, you can tell by the graphics and the moulded in bow pulpit, although some early production '88's still had the bolted on ones. Great boat, did you get the V6 or the V8 in yours?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new boat. Looks to be in really nice shape. I have friends that used to keep their boat at Point Pleasant Marina. Beautiful area.

We stayed at the Ahmic Lake resort a few times and then at many other private rental cottages / homes for a few years as well. Beautiful area.

Ours has the OMC V6 and my brother's has the Merc V8.
