A "new" fuel pump does not necessarily mean a "good" fuel pump.

Symptom: Backfiring and won't run for longer than a couple seconds.

Remedy: Replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carb a couple weeks ago.
I took care of my persistant backfiring by regapping the points. but it still wouldn't run for more than a few seconds at a time.

Remedy 2:Took the pump off my old parts motor and she cranked up and ran on the first pull.

Results:Took it out today to Lake Maurepas and logged 27 miles before the end of the day.

Moral: Just because something is "new" doesn't mean it's good.

Copied from Cajun66:
(Saturday I hunted deer all day, and shot some ducks on Sunday. But all good things must pass away. "SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MUNDI"
"Thus passes the glory of the world")

And if there was just one rabbit in the forest that could operate a cross bow, man would not step foot in any parts of it.

Nah. I'd still take my chances. Rabbits have poor eyesight.
