Re: New guy here, post #1, help me pick out my new (old) boat!

Its always a crap shoot...For me when i have had the $$$..there was a sudden drought of boats...

I love my boat (love/hate relationship) dont get me wrong..BUT..I have seen some much BETTER starcrafts for sale (better meaning water ready) for just a little more than I paid for mine not ready for the water...

The other side to this is I had the 800 bucks for my current boat..and had I NOT pulled the trigger and bought it..Well I am sure it would have slowly evaporated back into the household for lots of NON BOAT things like dinners out or whatever OTHER people wanted to pissit away on...

The good news for you, is it is winter AND more importantly tax time is right around the corner..Lots of TOYS go up for sell for people to give then the man his pound of flesh

Jasoutside, have you ever been down to Saginaw Marina? If not it's down on the W. side of the river (next to the Rust St. launch). Mel (the owner) is one of the best marine mechanics around and I belive has a couple in his yard. I looked at one of them (for sale by another individual ) earlier this year. Think it was a mid- eighties, needed work then, don't know if they've fixed it up at all. Don's Sportshop in Sebawing had a 1990 22' w/ 4.3L. (motor and outdrive were brand new replacements w/ warranty) I'll definately keep my eyes open and let you know if I see one. If you do find one I know some damn good canvas makers, arch builders, mechanics locally if necessary. Happy New Years

Hey Ham,

Checked in with Mel - seemed like a real nice guy. He didn't have anything around the place but I do think he'd be a great resource for motor work when I get to that point.

So, here I am, still on the hunt!

Update: I think I may have found one! It's big, it's aluminum, and Starcraft put it together back in the day. Looks like I'll be spending most of Saturday in my truck to give it a look. I'll let you fellas know if anything follows me home, eh!:D

If you need any tips or advice. I am just a few miles away.
