title says 1973.assume mtr.is same.its johnson.looks like my old 40hp.e/rude.ser num. is 2413557 4 may be 9,mod.rkl265 i think.old tag need hp.also was told to mix oil 50/1.decal sayys 24/1.hasent run in while,need help bad.sorry,not bad spelling,keys stick.have to geet batt.and charge.more problems but lets get engine fired first.thanks any and all.

I would say 50:1 but it certainly will run on 25:1 if you want to play it safe.

ok,split the difference.only got 3 gal.gas to test run.lets get the pistons pumping and go from there.thx. nick oh yeah,no guess on hp?

If that is really a model RKL-26S it is a 1964 40HP long shaft. The correct mix is 50:1.

Please post back when you get the correct model number and a working computer. If the tag on the motor you're wondering about says to mix at 24:1, then mix it at 24:1 until you determine the actual year of the motor.

thanks folks,50/1 with only 3 gals.gas at worst will foul my plugs and maybe run hot.cant screw up too much as motor will have water hose connection.not like ill get stuck out there. now i plan on being mr.wire chaser.want to see what owner may have bypassed or hotwired.i guess im a glutton for punishment but if not right im floating.sure do miss my e/rude dual controls.forward/reverse,fast,slow.wish i could change to that.oh well, one check a month limits such things.but im still open to suggestions. thx,nick

this is a simple thank you to all you members who use your time to give a guy honest answers.im so sick of other forums that think you are an idiot or post bs.i can already tell you have been there/done that too.just because i cant afford a mech.you folks reply with ans.to questions you probably asked yourself.thank you.
